Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting

held in the Village Hall on Monday 10 November 2008

Present:- Marshall Ferguson - chair, Paul Seaton, Mark Thompson, Andy Royle, Matthew Moore, Phil Bromhall (BC), Tim Fox, Terri Meechan, Ailsa Dempster, Jeremy Sharman, Jake Villette (JC), Stan Heggs (CC), John Hindle - clerk, Richard Woodhouse (MGWSP), Julie Chester (CPSO) and 5 Members of the Public.

 

Richard Woodhouse is MGWSP Area Manager for Corby with responsibility for highway maintenance. He outlined his plans for the area taking into account village concerns. He will keep Parish Council informed as to specific tasks to be undertaken in Gretton. Various members of the public raised concerns; Richard will take note of all and plan his programme accordingly. Richard was thanked for his attendance and contact details were exchanged.

 

Chairman reminded councillors to declare an interest where appropriate.

 

The Minutes of the Meeting on 13th October were accepted as a true record and duly signed.

 

Matters Arising:-

The village tidy up will now start on 22nd November with leaflets delivered to each house. Packs have been ordered from Keep Britain Tidy - full bags will come to the Village Hall and be collected by Corby BC.

 

Julie Chester (CPSO) reported on her crime prevention duties in the Parish. In addition, prevention of anti-social activities such as speeding, uncontrolled parking and dog fouling are part of her duties. She asked villagers to be aware of vulnerable people relating to distraction burglaries.

There is a Community Safety Fun Day at Weldon on Saturday 29th November.

The nuisance activities of a Subaru driver in Hatton Lane were discussed.

 

Report from County Councillor:-

Stan Heggs drew attention to a road safety hazard in Gretton Brook Road involving heavy vehicles backing out of the industrial areas often with insufficient lights after dark.

 

Report from Borough Councillor:-

Terri Meechan reported that a new Junior Councillor had been voted in by Gretton School. Details will be obtained and the successful candidate invited to the next meeting.

Gretton Youth Club will benefit from cash from Terri's Councillor Fund.

 

Jake Villette (Junior Councillor) reported that dog fouling was still a menace to young people. Posters to be obtained for display around the village.

BDO Stoy Hayward drew attention to a recommended increase in the Fidelity Bond from £10,000 to £20,000. Clerk to pursue with insurers.

 

Any Other Business:-

 

Street lights requiring attention on Fulwell Avenue and Clay Lane. Repairs are underway by Corby BC. Situation to be monitored.

 

The wall on the corner of Kirby Road and High Street has been hit by a lorry. The information has been passed to Phil Beckett (CPSO)

 

Conifers by the new cemetery require attention.

 

Corby BC Waste and Recycling lorries are experiencing difficulties accessing Hatton Lane due to parking.

 

The BC grit bins have not been filled.

 

Enquiries to be made to Corby BC about Tree Preservation courses for Parish Councillors.

 

Wheelie Bins left across driveways by BC employees are still causing nuisance.
