Minutes of Meeting 10 July 2006
Matters Arising:
10K Run. Ailsa Dempster reported that there will be three separate events:
A Children's Road Race ( 1 mile)
Adult 5K
Adult 10K
Entry fees to be Children £2, Adults £6. Races to be held on Sunday 1st April 2007 with the Recreation Ground as start and finish. Prizes would be provided from entry fees and ASDA will be approached to sponsor T shirts. Each entrant be invited to obtain sponsorship from friends and family and choose their local charity. .
Church Gap:- Clerk reported clearing of pond to be undertaken by O'Connors in the next few days.
Village Green:- Clearing of verges to be organised by Councillors.
Black Wheelie Bins:- Clerk reported that Corby BC have been approached to provide weekly emptyings during the summer period.
Dog Poo Bin:- Clerk reported that Corby BC had been asked to provide a bin at the end of Arnhill Road. Request was placed on the list.
Report from County Councillor:
In the absence of Stan Heggs, Marshall Ferguson reported that the plans for Hatton Lane/Station Road site were approved by a majority of Corby BC Development Committee on 25 July 2006.
Phil Bromball reported that Corby BC have acknowledged responsibility for repair to churchyard wall and are asking for local builders to apply.
Women Walks have been established and are keen to extend to Gretton. Directed to Mel. Jarvis, Footpaths Officer.
CPRE report on Corby BC Housing Development was felt to be unjust relating to the definition of 'brown land'.
Corby BC are waiting for Government money to refurbish the present Travellers Site in Gretton Brook Road and construct a new one further down the road.
The Head of Street Scene is coming to the next meeting of Corby BC. He is also responsible for Licensing and Councillors were invited to raise questions through Phil. Two were forthcoming ie - the policy for recyclable plastic and the possibility of more than twelve T.E. Notices to be available in anyone year for the new Village Hall.
Correspondence:
Letters received from:- Smith Stuart Reynolds ref Land off Southfield Road Development. These proposals go against the Village Plan. The company need Parish Council approval to succeed.
Martin Lattimer ref a nuisance tree in the verge outside his property. Clerk to advise Martin that if he wishes to apply for financial help to facilitate its removal he should contact Bob Seery at Northamptonshire CC. The Parish Council has no objection to the removal of this tree and a smaller replacement planted.
Gretton Football Club asking for the provision of new kitchen fitments in the Sports Pavilion. Also associated decorations to be provided by the members if Council buys the paint. Clerk to reply in the affirmative.
Corby BC enclosing a copy of a letter written to Camelot regarding the Lottery Ticket outlet at Gretton Post Office. Clerk to write to Camelot in support and add to Village Newsletter.
Northants A.L.C. offering places at its AGM on 17th. October.

Highway: - No matters to raise at present
Planning:
06/002221DP A 16, Station Road. Widen parking bay involving purchase of land from 12, Station Road. No objection. Clerk to write to Corby BC.
Provision of new Burial Ground for Gretton Baptist Church. Map provided showing two alternatives. Council has no objection to either plot but observes that both are around two metres above the surrounding area which could pose problems of seepage to neighbouring properties. Clerk to write to Corby BC.

(b) Statement of Accounts and Assurance for Auditors
Village Plan:
Terri Meechan reported back from a meeting of the Recreation Ground Committee comprising representatives from Gretton Football Club, Gretton Cricket Club, Gretton Silver Band, Gretton School, and Gretton Sports Club. Items under discussion were:
(i) The possible provision of a dog run
(ii) Vandalism to Orchard and Pond at School
(iii) Use of wall on existing farm buildings on the perimeter of Ground for the painting thereon of a football goal and cricket stumps.
iv) Funds to cover expenses. Suggest £10 from each club and £50 from Parish Council.
(v) Fenced patio area in front of the Club for use as a seating area in summer
Any Other Business.
Vic Clark requested the removal of the sign showing a cow hazard on the entrance to the village and its replacement with a tractor warning sign. Clerk to contact Northamptonshire CC.
Tim Fox reported that the War Memorial was lacking names of returnees from WW2 in contrast to those from WWl. He was referred to the local branch of British Legion. He also proposed a weight limit for vehicles travelling through the village. NCC to be asked for an 'Access Only' sign.
Andy Royle reported that the Height Restriction sign on the railway bridge appeared to have been removed by Network Rail to facilitate repairs. Clerk to pursue. He also reported that 'Clinkers' footpath was still in a bad state and rubbish under the bridge had not been cleared. Clerk to contact Footpaths Officer.
Terri Meechan reported that twelve Speeding signs have been put in place. Keys to Field gate needed for Bank Holiday festivities. There will be a funfair from Thursday to Sunday. Vehicular access from Kirby Road.
Ailsa Dempster reported that Gretton failed to attain any awards from the County 'Village of the Year' competition. Geddington was adjudged to be the overall winner. A lesson for future years was to ensure the judges had access to the school.
Also, the Village Hall Committee are preparing a submission to the 'Big Lottery' fund to facilitate the rebuilding of the Hall. Ailsa requested input from Councillors and this was promised.
Foliage overgrowing pathways in various areas of the village was reported and dealt with in discussion.
The School Clock is with the repairers. It is required for the School Centenary celebrations in the next year or so.
