Suzanne Preston - Rural Pride Officer, addressed the meeting. She had been asked to investigate the removal of the half-pipe on the Recreation Ground and reported that it would be very costly. Terri Meechan has identified a second hand replacement which would be satisfactory. WREN to be approached to provide a grant for the full job. Terri will pursue and liaise with Tun Fox and Suzanne Preston.
Ailsa Dempster reported that Gretton Village Hall had been unsuccessful in its application to the Big Lottery fund for a grant to rebuild. She will now apply to WREN for a refurbishment grant. Suzanne Preston to check if two grants can be given to the same village.
Chairman reminded Councillors to declare an interest where appropriate.
Minutes of the Meeting on 11th June were accepted as a true record and duly signed.
Matters Arising:-
Clerk reported on progress with grasscutting and footpath clearance
Clerk to pursue Corby BC and Winchelsea Estates regarding the hazardous trees on Gretton Brook Road/Corby Road.
Quotation from A.G. Electrical for showers refurbishment to be accepted. Funding to be sought to repair roof on Sports Club pavilion in addition to showers.
A Recreation Ground Committee to be established with Tim Fox, Terri Meechan, Andy Royle and Mark Thompson to represent Parish Council. Football, Cricket and Sports Clubs to be invited along with Silver Band and Headmaster.
Peter Collins has asked to be released from the contract to repair the wall on Kirby Road/Corby Road junction. Clerk to seek an alternative contractor.
Report from County Councillor:-
Stan Heggs reported that the bids for funding identified at the last meeting will be discussed by committee on the 10th Jury.
County Highways budget to be reduced by £1.5m in 2007/8. County to cover defecit by savings and financial adjustments.
Report from PCSO:-
Phil Beckett reported that although terrorist alert remains high nationally no specific threat has been identified in this County. 0800 789321 is the hot-line for the general public with concerns.
Phil will attend the monthly Village Hall lunches to be available to villagers with particular questions. Lunches are held on the first Tuesday of each month from 12.30 - 1.30pm and the Committee Room will be available if confidentiality is required.
The first Joint Action Group(JAG) meeting will be held soon with speeding in villages the main item.
Phil is keen to maintain a high profile around villages and get to know residents better.
Report from Borough Councillors:-
Funding has been approved for the upgrading of street lights in villages. Maintenance is through the Street Doctor service. A survey is required in Gretton to see what is needed and clerk will talk to Ian Tattersall at Corby BC to arrange a meeting.
Corby Swimming Pool will require a further £1.4m from capital budget
A Laser Gun gang is being trained to combat speeding through the village.
Rockingham Speedway - no problems recorded.
Our Councillors require feedback on the performance of the One-stop shop at Grosvenor House. Villagers are asked to comment
The opportunity is available to secure extra play equipment for the under-fives area on the Recreation Ground. Phil Bromhall to pursue with Borough Council.

Hedges to be trimmed by Spendlove's field next to the Village Hall.
'No Smoking' signs required for the Sports Pavilion.
Replacement of the 'High Street' sign on the wall by the Coffee Shop.
