The 1st Gretton Scouting Group was formed over 52 years ago and has enjoyed the support of hundreds of village families who not only encouraged their children but now their grandchildren, to attend the weekly meetings. The Group has been privileged to have excellent leaders who live in the village but has also enjoyed the willing help of parents, who have given their time to work with the uniformed leaders. The weekly activities provide evenings of learning and enjoyment and of personal development for the children, as they move through school and beyond. Many village residents have special talents and abilities whose help with the individual age groups would be very welcome to join in our activities, on the basis of one or two hours a month. If you would like to help and share your talents with our group, please contact our Group Secretary, Caroline Parkes, Tel 01536 770619.

The weekly meetings are for boys and girls and the groups meet in the Village Hall on the following days and times:-

Beavers 6-8 years, Tuesday from 6pm until 7pm

Cubs 8-10 ½ years Monday from 6pm until 7.30pm

Scouts 10 ½ - 14 years Monday from 7.30pm until 9pm

In addition to 'in hall' activities, the groups arrange many outings which includes swimming, activity days, and camping etc. The groups do not meet during school holidays or on some evenings when our outdoor activities are planned. The group also participates in district/county events where they meet up with other young people from other groups in their sections e.g. parades, quizzes, cook outs, hikes etc.

After the age of 14 our Scouts can move on to the District Explorer Unit, meeting weekly in Corby, for their continued enjoyment and personal development.
